This is my Lumpy Space Princess cosplay, debuted at this past NYCC. It was a very interesting experience cosplaying something popular (as opposed to, say, 1940s Bucky Barnes) and was also a huge ego boost for that matter.
I'm mostly satisfied with this costume, but there are a few things I would change if I were to wear it again:
-the top is overall awkward and the purple is much too dark. I would try and keep the yellow star, but the shirt would be a different cut and style as well as a different color
-boots: i worked with what I had, but I think a pair of white yellow, or purple gogo boots would look better. Even better, a pair of yellow heels. I would also like to see maybe a pair of purple or yellow fuzzy boot covers? I liked what i did with star tinsel, to try and make the shoes relevant.
-wig: this is a cheap ass wig from party city and was all flyaway and poorly constructed, looking only good in indoor photos. It's heavily hair-sprayed which controls most of the fly away, but I would have preferred something curlier and better quality. I did like how it was multihued, with a few shades of purple. i would also have liked to color my eyebrows but that is harder than it sounds
my favorite part was the SKIRT though!!! it's actually two purple petticoats layered over each other, which makes it really big and fluffy i knocked over a glass at dinner one night, that's how crazy it is
the headband I wore lower at the con, it's make from a star cut out of stiffened felt sewn onto a ribbon tied at my neck
i also wish i had more accessories! jewelry! bracelets, earrings, etc next time i think i will make a purse in the shape of a can of beans to hold my phone there aint no pockets on this thing
unseen is a pale purple messenger bag that transforms into a backpack I used at con. I pinned a foam star on it to make it relevant
despite all the costumes shortcomings, people really liked it! i really liked it! i think it is hands down my best cosplay to date, and this is only really my fourth one
lol I'm going to be Lumpy Space Princess for halloween so far it looks good but I'd love to have a purple wig and the purple gogo boots but my mom would never let me wear them let alone buy a hundred dollar pair!
best at lumpy space. I still wish we coulda had some pictures of LSP chasing Flynn Rider and Craig Tucker around somewhere because that would have summed up our existences.
